Élégance

In this Mandala, I love the contrasting edginess of the black with the innocence and purity of the white combined with the uplifting effect of the gold.   Since I normally paint with a lot of colors, The use of black, white, and gold in this Mandala painting was challenging to me.  I wanted to create a sophisticated pattern, finding harmony in the positive and negative spaces by balancing the purity and light of the white with the darkness and the complete absorption of light coming from the black.  I also decided to use the gold to enlighten the intricate pattern and to bring more sophistication to the piece.
